When I was in the fashion industry, I often worked with models on set. The day began with their outer-self as blank slates for the stylist and HMU artists to tell the story for a brand or magazine. Meanwhile, my curiosity led me to discuss what matters to them internally, the stories that lighten their heart and move their soul.
Kelleth had modeled for my friend Ester’s brand Andrea and Leo Couture shortly before being the most talked about professional photo-bomber at the Golden Globes this year. My biggest interest though was her stories on instagram about her adventures fostering rescues. Week after week she shines a comedic light and turns their quirks into lovable qualities.
Her journey to fostering started back in high school with kittens, and developed into fostering dogs over a year ago. Pablo, a handsome black and tan chihuahua from Pacific Pups Rescue, captured Kelleth and her husband’s attention with his Hollywood smile. He was adopted by a woman while still in their care, and not even 24 hours later the woman changed her mind and brought him back. For the 22 hours the couple was without Pablo, they were devastated and missed him dearly. When he was returned, they took it as a sign that he belonged in this family.
Foster fail strike 1.
Kelleth fostered another pup named Milo (formerly Coffee) and helped him rehab from his partial paralysis. During his recovery, he won the entire family over with his loving personality. Even Pablo, who didn’t care much for other dogs, seemed to make an exception for Milo. It quickly became clear they loved each other too.
Foster fail strike 2.
With all the “failures” Kelleth has endured, she’s only become more resilient and passionate about sharing her stories of the rescues. Her most recent foster Susu was dumped in a shelter after his owner was hospitalized. Susu himself also has medical issues including very swollen lymph nodes and a diagnosis of leukemia. Kelleth made a heartfelt post about the secret bucket list she made for Susu, including attending doggie birthday parties, a buzzfeed makeover, and even a modeling gig. Unfortunately Susu has since passed away from leukemia but we hope you would continue to support great organizations like Pacific Pups Rescue as there are so many more rescues who are in need of a home and medical treatment.
